Ok, it is time to continue with my second day in Havana.  Wow it is much more difficult trying to do this when I get home.  I really enjoyed uploading photos and doing the blog each evening while on a trip.  The excitement and wonder of the day is still fresh.

These are photos of the Presidential Palace which was used by every president up to and including Batista.  It is now the Museum of the Revolution.  The tank out front is the one Fidel used during the Bay of Pigs invasion to repel the invaders.  Out back is the yacht, Granma, which took Fidel and Che from Mexico to Cuba to start the revolution on the ground.

Alexis has received a text saying that if I am willing he can get tickets to tonight's performance at Teatro Marti…..am I willing YES!  We will have to pay scalpers prices, though.  A normal ticket for a Cuban is 20 CUP (there are 25 CUP to the US dollar).  We must pay 15 CUC for two tickets ( 1 CUC to the US dollar).  What the heck, less than 20 CDN…go for it.  Usually, tourists are not allowed to buy CUP tickets anyway.  Our tickets are clearly marked 20 CUP.  Next time I will plan better and get tickets in CUP before the event day.

We have about two hours to kill, so get Orlando, our bicitaxi driver, to drop us at a bar (where else)!!!

Sitting there sipping a mojitas and pina coladas, listening to the live music, I notice that the view through the door immediately in front of me is a perfectly framed view of the Capitolio in the sunset.
